Korea, Turkey or China?

Korea, Turkey or China for rhinoplasty? An honest comparison

Korea and Turkey are the best-known destinations. Typical prices are KRW 4,000,000–7,500,000 in Korea and EUR 3,650–5,600 in Turkey, including a hospital night. China is not cheaper: private clinics charge about CNY 25,000–50,000 (≈ USD 3,750–7,450). The reason to choose China is that the same trip can add a full health checkup and a TCM consultation.

Where Korea is strong

A large, regulated market for foreign patients

Korea treated 1.17 million foreign patients in 2024, 11.4% of them for plastic surgery (Ministry of Health and Welfare). Only registered institutions may attract foreign patients, and since September 2023 operating rooms must have cameras and record surgery if the patient asks, a rule aimed at ghost surgery.

Where Turkey is strong

Clear packages with a hospital night included

Turkish hospital packages typically include the anaesthetist, one night in hospital, the splint, medication and first checks, and many add 5–7 hotel nights and transfers. Patients usually stay about 7 nights in Istanbul and fly home after the splint comes off, with the surgeon’s clearance.

How to check a surgeon

Verification steps for each country

Korea: the Korean Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons website has a find-a-specialist function, and the clinic should be registered to treat foreign patients. Turkey: health-tourism services may only be provided by facilities with a Ministry of Health authorisation, so ask for the certificate. China: the institution must hold a Medical Institution Practice Licence, and the lead surgeon must be a licensed physician with at least 6 years in aesthetic or plastic surgery. China’s online register of institutions and doctors may not open from abroad, so check with us and we look it up.

Why choose China

Rhinoplasty plus a checkup and TCM in one trip

If you are travelling anyway, China lets the same trip include a full checkup at a public hospital, from CNY 1,320 (≈ USD 200) for a basic tier up to CNY 6,880–7,723 (≈ USD 1,050–1,150) for a tier with CT and MRI, and a TCM constitution consultation. The TCM visit is general supporting care, not a treatment for swelling after surgery or part of surgical aftercare.

Common questions

How much does rhinoplasty cost in Korea?

A typical full rhinoplasty for foreign patients costs about KRW 4,000,000–7,500,000 (broker guide, 2026). Event prices on Korean booking platforms start at KRW 940,000–1,650,000, but these are discounted promotional starting prices. Ask for an itemised quote that covers anaesthesia, materials and follow-up.

How much does revision rhinoplasty with rib cartilage cost in Korea?

Broker guides put revision with rib cartilage in Korea at about KRW 9,000,000–15,000,000 (2026). For comparison, rib-cartilage surgery at private clinics in China is about CNY 35,000–80,000 (≈ USD 5,200–11,950), and UK revision rhinoplasty costs GBP 5,500–10,000. In a large US study, 11.0% of patients needed another operation after a revision septorhinoplasty, against 3.1% after a first one, so get a plan from the surgeon after they have examined you.

Is Korea a good place for rhinoplasty?

Korea has a large, regulated market for foreign patients: 1.17 million in 2024, and only registered institutions may attract them. Operating rooms must record surgery if the patient asks. Check that your surgeon is a board-certified plastic surgeon. China is not cheaper than Korea, but a trip to China can also include a full health checkup and a TCM consultation.

Is Turkey a good place for rhinoplasty?

Turkey offers clear hospital packages: about EUR 3,650–5,600 for aesthetic rhinoplasty, including the anaesthetist and a night in hospital, and EUR 3,900–7,150 with septum surgery (2026). Plan about a week in Istanbul. Ask the facility for its Ministry of Health health-tourism authorisation before you book.

How do you choose a rhinoplasty surgeon abroad?

Check the surgeon’s specialist registration and the clinic’s licence in that country, ask who will perform the surgery, and get an itemised written quote. In the UK, the NHS suggests checking CQC registration, the GMC specialist register and BAPRAS or BAAPS membership. In China, check the practice licence and that the lead surgeon has at least 6 years in aesthetic or plastic surgery; we can look these up with you.
