An IVF cycle takes 3 to 6 weeks, according to the UK regulator, and both partners need to be there for part of it. The same stay can include a full health checkup and TCM consultations. Many people in China use acupuncture alongside IVF as supporting care; it does not replace your fertility treatment, and we make no promise that it changes the result.

1 · Your IVF cycle
IVF at a public hospital, for married couples
Open only to legally married couples of a man and a woman, with passports and a marriage certificate; the hospital confirms eligibility before you travel. Quoted individually, because there is no official price for foreign patients. For reference, a cycle typically costs CNY 30,000–40,000 (≈ USD 4,500–5,950) at public hospitals, and Shanghai caps egg retrieval at CNY 2,500 (≈ USD 370) and embryo culture at CNY 4,200 (≈ USD 630) (2024). We do not arrange egg freezing, surrogacy, sex selection or donor eggs or sperm.
2 · Health checkup
A full checkup for either partner
Chinese rules require both partners’ documents and signed consent, so you are usually both in China for part of the trip. Either of you can add a full checkup. One Hangzhou public hospital publishes four tiers, A CNY 1,320–1,670 (≈ USD 200–250), B CNY 2,880–3,411 (≈ USD 430–510), C CNY 3,980–4,703 (≈ USD 590–700) and D CNY 6,880–7,723 (≈ USD 1,050–1,150). The fertility doctor agrees the timing and which tests are suitable, especially any scan involving radiation.
3 · TCM alongside IVF
TCM consultations as supporting care
Many people in China use acupuncture alongside IVF. A TCM physician reads your tongue and pulse, describes your constitution and may suggest acupuncture or changes to diet, sleep and daily routine. Herbal medicines are only used if your fertility doctor agrees. A consultation costs about CNY 50–100 (≈ USD 7–15) depending on the physician’s grade, and acupuncture about CNY 70 (≈ USD 10) a session. People respond differently, and TCM does not replace your fertility treatment or change its rules.
Why one stay
You will be in China for weeks anyway
One IVF cycle takes 3 to 6 weeks, and one cross-border couple in Guangzhou stayed about 3 months. The days between appointments are long enough for a checkup and regular TCM visits, so one plan and one quote cover all three. A top-tier checkup lists at under CNY 8,000 (≈ USD 1,200).

Common questions
Does acupuncture help during IVF?
In China, many people use acupuncture alongside IVF, usually as a course of sessions arranged around the treatment. A TCM physician first reads your tongue and pulse and describes your constitution, so two people may be given different points and schedules. TCM sees this as supporting the body through a demanding treatment, not as a fertility treatment in itself. People respond differently, it does not replace anything your fertility doctor prescribes, and we make no promise that it changes the result.
Can yoga help with fertility while trying to conceive?
In China, gentle movement, regular sleep and diet are part of what a TCM physician talks about, alongside acupuncture. The physician suggests a routine that fits your constitution, and it is meant to support you during treatment, and we make no claim that it raises your chances. People respond differently. Your fertility doctor’s advice on exercise during treatment comes first.
Is it safe to do fertility yoga during IVF stimulation or around ovulation?
That depends on your treatment stage and your body, so it is a question for your fertility doctor, who may advise differently during stimulation, after egg collection and after the transfer. In China, a TCM physician may suggest a gentle routine for the days between appointments, agreed with the fertility doctor. Your coordinator puts the question to both in writing and translates the answers.
