Treatment + checkup + TCM

One trip to China: your dental treatment, a full health checkup and a TCM consultation

One dental visit is a small reason to fly to China. Treatment, a full checkup and a TCM consultation in the same trip is a bigger one. We plan and quote all three together.

1 · Your treatment

Dental treatment

Quoted from your own scan, in a large hospital’s stomatology department. A routine implant costs about CNY 6,000–7,000 (≈ USD 900–1,050); patients in China report fillings at about CNY 240–500 (≈ USD 36–75) and a crown after a root canal at about CNY 632–3,000 (≈ USD 94–450).

2 · Health checkup

A full checkup in one morning

Bloods, ultrasound and imaging with a doctor’s review, in one public hospital. One Hangzhou public hospital publishes four tiers: A CNY 1,320–1,670 (≈ USD 200–250), B CNY 2,880–3,411 (≈ USD 430–510), C CNY 3,980–4,703 (≈ USD 590–700) and D CNY 6,880–7,723 (≈ USD 1,050–1,150); tier D includes CT, a head MRI plus one other area and tumour markers.

3 · TCM consultation

A TCM constitution check

A hospital TCM physician reads your tongue and pulse, names your constitution type and suggests changes to diet, sleep and daily routine. A consultation costs about CNY 50–100 (≈ USD 7–15) depending on the physician’s grade, and acupuncture about CNY 70 (≈ USD 10) a session. In China, TCM is used alongside medical care, not instead of it.

Why one trip

A small treatment alone is not worth a flight. Three things together can be

The same hospital system can usually book the checkup and the TCM visits around your dental appointments, so one plan and one quote cover all three. A top-tier checkup with CT and MRI lists at under CNY 8,000 (≈ USD 1,200), against USD 2,500–11,000 for executive physicals at top US hospitals.

Common questions

How much does a full-body checkup cost in China?

At one Hangzhou public hospital checkup centre, published packages range from about CNY 1,320 (≈ USD 200) to CNY 7,723 (≈ USD 1,150). The top tier includes CT, a head MRI plus one other area and tumour markers. International departments and private chains charge more.

Where can you get a checkup at a public hospital in China?

At the checkup centre of a large public (tertiary) hospital. Your coordinator books it around your treatment and an interpreter goes with you.

What is a checkup for foreigners like in China, and how long does it take?

Most tests are done in one morning; sedated endoscopy and MRI may need a second half-day. Full reports usually follow within days, for example 7–8 working days at one Beijing public hospital. Ask for an English report and copies of images.

How do you find a TCM doctor in China?

Large public hospitals have TCM departments, and there are dedicated TCM hospitals in every major city. We book the appointment with a hospital physician and an interpreter sits in on the consultation.

Is traditional Chinese medicine effective?

In China, TCM is part of everyday hospital care, used alongside conventional treatment for pain, sleep, digestion, stress and women’s health. A TCM physician starts from your pattern rather than a single symptom, so two people with the same complaint may get different treatment, and results differ from person to person. It complements medical care and does not replace it.
