Europe’s IVF destinations advertise own-egg cycles from about EUR 3,400 in Greece, CZK 39,000 at one Czech clinic and EUR 4,300 in Spain, usually before drugs. In China, a cycle typically costs CNY 30,000–40,000 (≈ USD 4,500–5,950) at public hospitals, with official caps on each step. China is only open to legally married couples of a man and a woman, and the trip can be longer, so it suits some couples and not others.

Where Europe is strong
Closer for UK patients, and prices published in English
For patients from the UK, Greece, the Czech Republic and Spain are a short flight away, and many clinics publish itemised price lists for international patients. One Czech clinic’s 2026 list, for example, sets out the cycle, ICSI, extended culture, freezing and frozen transfer separately. If you are not a married man-and-woman couple, Europe may be an option where China is not.
Where China is limited
Strict eligibility and a longer trip
Chinese law allows IVF only for legally married couples of a man and a woman, and the hospital confirms eligibility before you travel. China does not allow egg freezing for single women, surrogacy, sex selection or bought eggs or sperm, and donor eggs are very limited and not something we can arrange. One cross-border couple in Guangzhou stayed about 3 months, and US citizens are not on China’s 30-day visa-free list.

Official price caps and a very large system
Shanghai publishes maximum prices for each IVF step at public hospitals, and China had 645 licensed assisted-reproduction institutions in June 2026. News reports put the number of couples treated each year at about 1.3 million. If you are eligible and can plan the time, you get an individual quote from a public hospital and can compare it item by item with a European price list.

Ask which licence covers your treatment
In China, IVF may only be done at institutions approved by the health authorities. IVF, ICSI and embryo testing each need national approval, licences are re-checked every 2 years, and embryo testing needs its own licence. Ask the hospital to confirm in writing that its licence covers the technique you need. Anywhere you go, ask what the price excludes, such as drugs, ICSI, freezing, storage and frozen transfers.
