Boao Pengbo Hospital (BNCT Center)
海南博鳌鹏博医院
Boao Pengbo Hospital specializes in Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), a cutting-edge precision radiotherapy technique that selectively destroys cancer cells while minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissue. BNCT is particularly effective for head and neck cancers, brain tumors, and recurrent cancers that are difficult to treat with conventional radiation. The hospital represents one of the few BNCT facilities accessible to international patients in Asia.
Departments
Key departments
The BNCT Treatment Center is the hospital's core department, operating advanced accelerator-based neutron sources for precision cancer treatment. The Radiation Oncology Department provides treatment planning and follow-up care. Head and Neck Oncology and Neuro-oncology departments evaluate and manage patients before and after BNCT treatment.
Procedures and equipment
The hospital performs Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT), which delivers targeted radiation at the cellular level. BNCT is particularly effective for recurrent head and neck cancers, glioblastoma, and melanoma. The treatment involves administering a boron-containing compound that accumulates in cancer cells, followed by neutron irradiation that selectively destroys only the boron-laden cancer cells.
